On Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) we have lit these yellow candles in memory of Mietje Prijus aged 79, Monia Prigozhin aged 6 and Ella Prinz aged 51, all who perished during the Holocaust. May their memory be a blessing ••••• @yellowcandleuk @maccabigb #yellowcandle #yomhashoah
A little doodle for My Mr D-B who I met for the first time 6 years ago today. Who’d have thought 6 years later we’d be begging my parents to babysit so we could just have some food in peace and play a couple of rounds of rummikub 😂. Despite our home being unnecessarily filled with balloons and you may have questionable judgement when it comes to Facebook adverts, but I still love you. Thank you for everything you do, especially for the help over the past few weeks. Believe it or not, I’ll quite miss you when your back to normal tomorrow x
And then you turned 1... today has been such a fun day celebrating one whole year of you. You’ve been a very bright light in a year of challenges and are already growing into one awesome little human. Don’t ever stop being our cheeky, inquisitive (and destructive) little lobbus.
Yesterday we lost a truly one of a kind lady. Our Grandma Betty. Anyone who met her will agree that though she seemed like a little quiet lady, underneath all that she was one incredibly strong (and strong willed) woman. She fiercely loved her family, particularly any of us in the younger generation of her family and she would tell that to anyone who would listen (literally anyone... like strangers at the bus stop).
Turning Blue Monday on its head with #BrewMonday! A cuppa and check in with your friends sounds like the best thing right now. So how are you?
2020, you’ve been... interesting. I always expected you to be a challenge. I did expect my mental health and confidence to take a bit of a knock. I did expect sleepless nights worrying and days of anxiety wondering if harm would come to our family. Maybe I didn’t expect those feelings to be doubled and multiplied by the obvious. One thing that exceeded all my expectations was our little Max and the massive shift he’s made in our lives. Without all the bad bits you brought, I don’t think I would have had the same head space and time to focus on getting to know Max so well. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve really, really missed working this year, but the fact that you dried up my work (temporarily I hope!), allowed me to have a longer maternity leave than I was expecting, even if it wasn’t quite what I was hoping. You have been so awful for so many reasons for so many people. But through the crap, you’ve hopefully taught some positive lessons too. There are some things, that we have all taken for granted in the past, that we have realised are just the most important things in life. Human contact and interaction, the outdoors, family and friends and their health. I hope we all can remember that when we move into the better times.
Over the weekend I mentioned that I had a lot more to say about the positive steps @liberal.judaism have taken and today my article on the @jewishnewsuk blog was published. You can read it via the link in my bio. I’m very proud of my very unique and special family and how welcoming they have been to @beadlesabout83 we are so very lucky to be part of it and learn from you all as we navigate our hybrid life. And this includes my work family too! @birthrightisraeluk @ujiacharity @israelxperience @josh_dubell @joelmacadar
I have a lot to say about an appalling article that has been published in this week’s @thejewishchronicle in response to @liberal.judaism ’s outstanding new moves towards inclusion of interfaith/ hybrid families like ours. It is deeply offensive. Some comments are outright insults to me and so many others.
Shana Tova, Happy New Year to all our friends and family who are celebrating. It’s been a year of complete contrasts for us. We hope the coming year will be full of more joy, sweetness and good health xxx
